| Thanks, your build experience is now the same as mine. I am ignoring the multiple inheritance and working around it by providing a getter function that returns a object type cast to the 2nd base class (CsoundFile). The deprecated API I ignore.

Somehow SWIG-generated files had been left in the top-level directory and that
was messing up the build. Deleted them and it works. I get two warnings
of note (FAO Michael):
SWIG says java does not support multiple inheritance (and there is one
C++ class using it)
and the Java Compiler says that interfaces/CsoundEditor.java uses or
overrides a deprecated API
