I got the latest cvs version (today) of csound5 and built it on OSX 
10.3
When you don't set the path for the OPCODEDIR and run csound
you will get the following error:

erikos$ ./csound -b1024 -d -odac:0 -iadc:0 -+rtaudio=coreaudio 
-+buffnos=16 examples/fL.csd
Localisation of messages is disabled, using default language.
time resolution is 1000.000 ns
Csound tidy up: Segmentation fault
Csound tidy up: Bus error

Maybe it would be good to add this to the OSX howto.
