Would it be an idea to have a OPCODEPATH variable or
something appropriately named that would be a search

yes that is what i am asking --  i think there really needs to be a
a directory [with user's permissions] to put extensions in.
it would be really nice to have all .dylibs automatically loaded
and all UDOs automatically #included.
