FWIW, yes - I've done what Rory mentions - for Windows only (using Lettuce).

For anyone interested, I offer (at www.arthunkins.com) versions of three 
live-performance compositions in this "format":

What's in a Name? (this one includes a number of samples)

Just download the .zip packages identified as "for systems without Csound".
