In the directory installer/linux go 
   make
and it creates a binary called uninspiredly "installer"
There are scripts there to create sensible directories for
distribution.

If the documentation or library directory is blank then that component
is not installed.  The "system" button fills in suggested locations.
I have not tested the environment setting yet.

The installation of the libraries needs more careful thought.  I
suspect that in many cases the user will already have some of the
libraries, so that section needs either a checking section, or a
dialog.
