I'm currently having some issues whenever I use MSVC to build a Csound host application. The apps builds fine but on startup I get an error about libFLAC-8.dll? I'm pulling my hair out on this one. I've tried searching online for mention of libFLAC-8.dll but there is little information available on it. My problems seemed to have stemmed from an uninstall of Pd. I thought perhaps it might have been some dlls that were uninstalled which Csound needed, but I reinstalled Csound so whatever dlls that might have been accidentally removed by Pd should now be back in place. I know the Pd installer gives a warning about replacing dlls, I don't get this warning from the Csound installer. So does the windows installer auto-overwrite dlls, or does it not install them if it finds they are already there? |

I think this might be a libsndfile dependency. Victor On 23 Oct 2012, at 23:26, Rory Walsh wrote: > I'm currently having some issues whenever I use MSVC to build a Csound > host application. Yeah I ran it there with dependency walker and it seems that it is something to do with libsndfile. What's confusing is I just checked on some other Csound machines and none of them have flac-8.dll at all. Why does my libsndfile, which is the one that ships with Csound need libfalc-8.dll. Perhaps Michael can help me on this one. Alternatively I'll try to install a different version of Csound, create a new import lib and try that one. On 24 October 2012 00:25, Victor Lazzarini |

Well libFLAC is there to add flac support for libsndfile and it is probably either a newer version of libsndfile or one that Michael has prepared himself. >From what I read, Erik's binaries now contain the flac support, so it might just a matter of going to the libsndfile site and getting it from there to substitute what you have installed. No luck there. It's think it probably to do with how Mike builds Csound. I'll try purging my version of Csound, reinstalling the latest, rebuliding the import lib and trying again. I really hope it works as I can't move on with nay of my projects until I can get it sorted! On 24 October 2012 11:10, Rory Walsh |

I just downloaded the latest windows release. Created a new import lib from the csound64.dll.5.2 binary but the problem persists, libFLAC-8 not found. Btw, I did try that link you sent but I get an error about that dll not being a valid windows file. I did find a libflac.dll, tried dumping that into system32 but that led to a host of other problems. Balls. Looks like my only option is to build Csound for windows myself. Be expecting some extra traffic on the list... On 24 October 2012 11:43, Rory Walsh |

Windows is not my thing but this does sound like libsndfile issue; have you d./loaded latest binary from Erik's site? > I just downloaded the latest windows release. And now Csound won't build because it can't find libsndfile even though I have the correct path in my custom.py file. It's all coming back to me know. This is the reason I stopped building Csound myself. I just checked the Csound archives because I was sure I had this issue before. The final post in the thread was from me saying I finally got it to build, but he's the kicker, I also mention in that post that I have no idea why it suddenly started building! Arggh! Ok, sorted it without having to resort to building windows myself. I just replaced all instances of libsndfile on my PC with the one found in the windows installer. Everything back to normal. Play has resumed... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites. So do we. Everything back to normal. Play has > resumed... Just catching up on mail. The libsndfile windows binary on my website contains the FLAC and Ogg/Vorbis libraries compiled into the binary. If you get libsndfile somewhere else this may not be the case.
