yet clear whether the judge will find this infringement allowed under
fair use, or not. So, the perhaps quite large consequences of this
case are not yet clear.

A positive judgment, i.e. that it was fair use, enables this kind of
VST reengineering. It's not clear to me that a negative judgment
disallows such reengineering. But I am not a lawyer.
