The question is not only recompilation of Csound, which obviously is required, but also recompilation or recoding of clients of the Csound API.

The whole purpose of this discussion, in case that isn't clear, is that with the changes I am contemplating, neither recoding nor recompiling of the CLIENTS of the Csound API will be required. This is a whole other matter.

These clients only know about thread objects as void * addresses, and they are not expected to interchange these objects with the pthread API or any other API.
