| Hi All,
After some experimentation, I've found that docbook-sgml does not work
very well with Cygwin. Cygwin these days seems to only package
Docbook-XML DTD's; the big problem I ran into had to do with
encapsulating not only the stylesheets but also the SGML DTD's. After
some more attempts, I stopped on this for the day.
So, I then attempted to move the manual to use Docbook-XML. Using
stylesheets I use with blue's manual and some changes to the manual to
make valid XML, this works fine to produce HTML with Cygwin. The
reason, as far as I can tell, is that with XSLT processors, they will go
and fetch DTD's, while using openjade requires a bit more work.
The examples are not currently being brought in to the documentation,
but I believe this is due to Docbook-XML using a different set of tags
to draw in other files.
The output looks a little different than the old ACRM as the
customization layers are a little different. I think that modifying the
customization layer to produce output identical to the ACRM should not
be terribly difficult. (Also possible to use the Gnome Documentation
Project's Docbook XML stylesheets, as the ACRM used their old DSSSL
stylesheet.)
Producing PDF's would require installing Apache's FOP processor. Not too
difficult to install, but requires Java.
This is where I'm at currently. Using SGML, DTD's and other stylesheet
related issues got me stuck. Using XML, I can produce HTML and PDF on
Cygwin, though stylesheets need customization.
I'll continue on with this tomorrow, and will report any results.
