Subject[Cs-dev] updated csound.sf.net home page
I have updated the csound.sf.net page reflecting
the new release (except for the windows packages).

Are we not doing a RPM for this release? It would
be useful.

Thanks, Victor, for updating the home page. I was going to get to it
eventually, but it is good to have it done sooner ! :)

Re: the RPM ... was it on Sourceforge before? I hope I did not
inadvertently do something wrong last night ... the File Release interface
is somewhat awkward and one of the Mac files did not upload properly the
first time so I had to delete it and try again ...

BTW, I noticed that the Csound5.04-src.tar.gz file is 20.5MB (about twice as
large as it should be) and the files only consume 22MB of disk space when
expanded. Could it be that the archive is not actually compressed?

The RPM is there and I added back the link to it from the front page. Also
corrected a couple of other links.

1: I had build the rpm but not uploaded it -- done now

2: Indeed the src tar was not compressed. Is now.

3: I have so far failed to build a valid src rpm

SubjectRe: [Cs-dev] problem compiling 5.04 for AMD64
I think FLTK 1.1.7 is a problem on 64bit machines. I have never managed
to get it to compile on either of my machines, and the last two days have
been struggling (and failing) with fltk 1.1.x which bombs in using teh
library.
I am using FKTK1.1.6 without problems; I also note that it is that
version that SuSE supply as of yesterday/

Subject[Cs-dev] problem compiling 5.04 for AMD64
Greetings:

Compiling the 5.04 source tarball for AMD64 fails with an error message
re: GCC4 during the FLTK GUI build phase. I'm away from the machine
right now, I'll post the complete error message later, but I also
installed and ran the pre-built binary (my thanks to whoever built it).
To the builder: What scons flags/options did you use for building the
AMD64 binary ? I've only added Word64=1, is there more I should add ?

FLTK version is 1.1.7 from Debian.

Best,

dp

Hi John,

Here's the error from building with 'scons Word64=1' :

GCC 4.1.2, Debian Etch on AMD64. The prebuilt binary csound5gui worked,
so at least FLTK 1.1.7 is doing something right. :)

Any suggestions besides skipping the FLTK stuff ?

Best,

I am building with gcc 3.3.5 and it seems that you are using gcc 4.1
so my advice is probably not relevant!

The function which is causing you the problem is
CsoundGlobalSettings::CsoundGlobalSettings()
as you probably know. As it seems to set vim as the default editor
instead of the One True Editor the code is basically flawed :-)

Looking at the class definition in CsoundGlobalSettings.hpp there is
nothing odd -- my C++ is not at coding speed but the std::string looks
odd to me.

I did some Google searching re: this error, then I asked about it on the
Linux Audio Developers list. Dirk Jagdman suggested that the
optimization flag triggerd the compiler error. Setting it to -O1
triggered the error in another FLTK-related file, so I simply eliminated
the optimization entirely in SConstruct.

Cs5 compiled without troubles and appears to be working fine. I'll
report if I run into any other showstoppers.

Best,

dp
