Hi All, Just FYI, I've created a homebrew tap (what homebrew calls additional repos) for Csound projects. It's at: https://github.com/kunstmusik/homebrew-csound I've updated the wiki at: https://sourceforge.net/p/csound/wiki/Homebrew%20OSX/ What you'll need to do to use it: 1. If you have /usr/local/Library/Formula/csound.rb, delete it. 2. Type "brew tap kunstmusik/csound". This should tap the tap and download the csound.rb formula from there. 3. Use "brew install csound" or "brew install --HEAD csound" as before. I'll be updating the tapped version of the csound.rb with any further updates, and have removed the formula at http://www.kunstmusik.com/csound.rb. My intention with this tap is to open it to any csound-related projects. I'm hoping that developers targeting Mac will consider adding recipes (I'm more than happy to help out with this as time allows). I'm imagining a really nice thing for Csound on OSX where we can get a new computer, run "brew install csoundqt; brew install csound-examples; brew install pysco;" etc. and have easy to reproduce systems all ready to go. Plus, this can act like a registry of sorts for csound projects too. Thanks very much for all this Steven. It's great. Hopefully we can put together a csound vim package targeted specifically for the os x too. It's working nicely here, with interactive shell.

That'd be nice to have a brew install csound-vim. I have this so far on github: https://github.com/kunstmusik/csound-vim which is just Luis's work slightly modified to work with Pathogen. Whenever this project can advance a bit, I'll if there's a way to get a brew recipe for it. (Need to see if there's any vim bundles on homebrew already to use as a model.) That would be great. I'm making a bunch of snippets for autocompletion, and have added some keybindings and a couple of applescripts on top of this plug-in to run Csound inside MacVim with an interactive shell.

Thanks, this is working well for me. I have now CsoundQt building for Csound6, but I think I broke something along the way... I've also found brew a great way to manage software on OS X. Cheers, On Tue, May 21, 2013 at 12:25 PM, Steven Yi <stevenyi@gmail.com> wrote: Hi All, |

Hi Andres, To get the CsoundQt recipe going, I added a recipe to the Csound tap for RtMidi. If you do a brew update, the formula should show up as a new formula "kunstmusik/csound/rtmidi". pyqt seems to already be in the main Homebrew, and there are recipes to use as models that use qmake. Going to take a break now, but hoping to see "brew install csoundqt" sometime soon. :P steven On Thu, May 23, 2013 at 2:23 AM, Andres Cabrera |

Great thanks, I hope to have some time over the summer to look. I think the greatest challenge is PythonQt which a different beast to pyqt...But we can make the tap initially not support PythonQt and then add it as necessary. Hi Steven,
I just tried your brew installer. It works, as in csound works afterwards. But do get this error: ==> make install Warning: Could not fix install names for /usr/local/Cellar/csound/2/bin/srconv Warning: Could not fix install names for /usr/local/Cellar/csound/2/bin/sndinfo

Hi Peiman, Yeah, that's normal at this time. It has to do with how homebrew does installations of Frameworks, and how the current recipe does not do follow that and uses it's own install location. The change would involve installing into homebrew's framework folder. I've now reverted my primary system to hand-built libraries, and will probably convert the VirtualMachine version of OSX to be one for testing homebrew, but that'll take some time to do. I'd say, it's safe to ignore for now. Thanks! steven On Wed, Jun 5, 2013 at 6:34 PM, peiman khosravi |
