Does anyone use this opcode?  If so can you give a broad description of
what it does?  the manual is not giving anything away!

The FLOSS manual mentions:

"For reading multichannel files  of more than two channels, the more
recent loscilx exists as an option."

I'm guessing it's just there for multipl channels?
