Thanks for your helpful information.

I suppose I will (sigh) have to include the redistributable libraries in the installer, and install them if they are not present on the user's computer. I should have caught this one myself... or I can go back to building these components with MinGW as I used to do, but they are harder to build that way.

I will also look at the Python opcodes issue.

Regards,
Mike

I've actually deferred installing 5.07 as i wanted to see how many (more)
issues cropped up. there seem to be a few.

As a csound~ user also, are there enough issues needing resolution here then
to suggest that a "behind the scenes illiterate" such as myself should
actually defer upgrading at this stage?

Mike, if i can offer you any sort of encouragement/ consolation/ hope for
the future I have recently downloaded MinGW-5.1.3, make-3.81.tar, &
MSYS-1.0.10. (aim is to get loris happeneing..)

I have no idea what to do with them yet (someone on this list is very kindly
offering me some periodic assistance...) but perhaps it can offer you a
glimmer of hope that you won't remain solely responsible for this process
until your 125th birthday?

anyway, i defer to the masters as to whether to put off my upgrade to 5.07
or not (the new pvs features being my main focus of interest really.....)
