[CSOUND-DEV:5626] chosc opcodes

For John ff:

I've downloaded the files chosc.c and chosc.h from the BETA directory on
Dream ftp. I compiled them as an opcode library and have been trying to
figure out how to get useful sounds out of them :) I've two questions:

Are these opcodes considered finished ?

And are there any example orc/scos so that I can test them effectively?

Thanks much!

Well,... work in progress/unfinished. The paper in ICMC Banff (1995?)
explains it, and I had a student working on useful parameters, but he
had to give up for personal reasons. Richard Dobson may remember
more.
They were not included in any proper release because it needed
proper documentation. It was mentioned so said student could
experiment.

Thanks, John.

I did find the article on your website and have been trying to digest it.
I've only tried the first formula so far though (chosc1) and have had
trouble getting anything significant. A constant value for C yields
oscillation too brief to be musically interesting. I did try modulating C
with a sine wave however and got some pulsating noise out of it ...

I guess that more experimentation with the parameters is necessary. And
from rereading the article, it sounds like I should expect more out of the
second formula (chosc2).

I would be happy to write up some brief documentation for these. Probably
just an explanation of the parameters and a reference to your article.
Would you mind if I include them in a package of new opcode libraries that I
am assembling ??

Thanks again.
