The API works in both 4.23 and 5.

The API is more mature and more finished in 5.

4.23 might be easier for you to use, but you would help us by using 5.

Right then, 5 it is! And I'm sure you will have my questions to deal with now 
too. I am downloading and installing libsnd in cygwin as we speak. I should 
try portaudio 19 right?
