midiGlobals is allocated in csoundReset(), it looks like something going very wrong for it to be NULL.

Maybe a backtrace may give some clues.

I am getting a confusing crash with latest develop. The csound binary crashes (even if csound is called without any args) within csoundSetExternalMidiErrorStringCallback in csound_rtio.c

void
csoundSetExternalMidiErrorStringCallback(CSOUND *csound,
                                         const char *(*func)(int32_t)) {
  csound->midiGlobals->MidiErrorStringCallback = func;
}

csound->midiGlobals seems to be null, but maybe the problem is that this function is being called at all? 

If I comment the line "csound->midiGlobals..." out, the crash is gone.

I see the problem now, csound seems to still look in the default user path for plugins, even if OPCODE7DIR is set. Thanks for the heads-up regarding ABI changes
