[Csnd-dev] Csound 7 on Windows

Subject[Csnd-dev] Csound 7 on Windows
I am porting all of my projects that I intend to continue to maintain, and that use Csound, to use only Csound 7 from now on. Everything now builds for macOS and I am working to get everything to build with GitHub Actions for macOS, Linux, and Windows.

When Csound 7 is released, what will it be? Built using Visual C++, or built using MingW? And if both, which build should I use as my dependency for these projects?

Best,
Mike

All beta releases have Windows 64 and 32 bit installers. In fact Windows was the first platform for which we had github actions builds.

I don't know when we will have the first release. There are a few PRs that need reviewing and merging before that. Maybe it's a good idea for us to set a date for it.

You did not actually answer my question. I am only concerned with the 64 bit Windows installer. Is it built with MSVC or with MinGW?

You asked what it'll be, I answered that it's already there, you can download and check it out. It's the same as in Csound 6, vcpkg-based, built with MSVC.

i agree with what you said about setting a release date.
there will always be pull requests and issues, but since long CS7 is
stable and tested.
it would be great to have it now as a "real" release for users, unless
there are strong objections.
