Hello all, Looking forward to putting v6.17 through its paces. The latest OSX build on the csound website: Seems to not build on OSX 10.x Is that in accord with intentions?
Does anyone know if the OS/Version number [in] compatibilities are documented anywhere? (A browser search didn’t reveal anything useful): BrewInstall (https://brewinstall.org/how-to-install-csound-on-mac-with-brew/) says: “How to Install csound on Mac with Brew – Big Sur, Mojave, Catalina, High Sierra, Capitan” MacPorts https://ports.macports.org/port/csound/ is very out of date and it seems no one is using it. I think the 6.17 build is not compatible with older versions of OSX, you will need to get an earlier version for that. However the build we’ll release for 6.18 is compatible all the way down to 10.9. best ======================== Prof. Victor Lazzarini Maynooth University Ireland > On 17 Oct 2022, at 23:10, Worrall, David |

Hi Victor, Thanks for the update. OXZ 11 broke a number of our studio systems here so the transition has been somewhat slow. Looking forward to v6.18.
Hope you’re well,

yes, it’s an annoyance the issue of non-backward compatibility. Since Csound has a number of dependencies, I had to ensure they were all built with backwards compatibility, but I think this is OK now all the way to Yosemite. Note that the Python opcodes are now provided as a separate install, but at the moment have been built for x86_64 only and so they will not run in native M1 mode. Also the question of backwards compatibility is not clear to me in regard to these. Once we have this release out, we can see what issues are outstanding. As usual, the difficulty we have is that while there are many demands for versions and different hardware etc, our development team continues to be very small. ======================== Prof. Victor Lazzarini Maynooth University Ireland > On 18 Oct 2022, at 15:30, Worrall, David |
