[Cs-dev] Linux plugin format

Subject[Cs-dev] Linux plugin format
In the course of refactoring VST SDK related code in Csound, I have found that the DSSI project has not progressed for some time, and appears to be moribund. A new LV2 plugin standard has been proposed by some of the same people involved in GMPI and DSSI (http://lv2plug.in), but does not yet appear to have gained traction.

I wonder if Csound developers would be wise to ignore Linux plugin standards for the time being, except for Jack. It looks like it should be possible to use Jack to get both MIDI and audio signals into Csound, and audio back out.

Has anybody actually done this, either with Csound, or with other Jack clients?

Regards,
Mike

Hi Michael,

I haven't made much progress on the dssi plugin hosting... But Ladspa
support should still work hopefully, though I haven't tried it in a
while. Can anyone confirm it's working/not working? If its not working,
since I have no time to have a look it might be a good idea to remove it
to avoid confusion. If you do, let me know, and I'll make a note in the
docs.

While it's true you can use jack, I find it very convenient that plugin
loading and configuration can be stored within a csd file.

Cheers,
Andres
