Subject[Cs-dev] Tagging?
Hi everyone,

it appears we need a re-tag and replacement of the 5.17 packages. Do we have an agreement?

IMO, retagging is very bad practice. It confuses, a lot (do I really
have the latest release?). Just release 5.17.x.

Next release could be 5.17.5 which is current number, but I would prefer
5.17.6 to give clear change.

So not waiting for responses actually tagged as csound5_17_6

I think it's a semantic issue; usually retagging means to tag with the
same tag name again, i.e. tagged as 5.17.6, make changes, tag again as
5.17.6. We're all on the same page for wanting a new tag, so it's all
good.

I am not sure I follow you. I was asking for it to be tagged 5.17.x before I pulled and prepared the package. It appears x = 6 now.
Why is there a problem with this?

Yes, I thought you meant reusing the latest tag. Sorry for the noise.
