Ok - Link problem cracked. FLTK wasn't installing correctly and
there was an old library file kicking around from about 1960.
I've clocked what to my naive eyes looks like a build process error
when building with the OSXGUI:

To me this looks like it's trying to link against something it hasn't
installed or built yet. Some kind of time travel conundrum.
I figure I can fix this by doing a build, install, then another build
with the OSXGUI stuff turned on. But it seems a bit broken make-wise.
