In response to your question: I've no idea.
I was simply citing this feature as an example of what it would be very
helpful to have. (A related example in IE is when clicking on Programs,
there is a downward arrow which fills out vertical space; any more items
appear in an additional column to the left.)
My (perhaps unwise) assumption was that such features are available in the
various web publishing tools out there. What we're talking about is
certainly a frequently met problem that needs addressing in any serious
software package.
Actually, I imagine even a scrollbar for a dropdown menu list would work.
Rory uses this in Lettuce - in standalone .exe's, in his About menu item.
When the text exceeds the length of the dropdown About box, a scrollbar
automatically appears.
