In the current csound 5 build system, USE_DOUBLE is a configure script
option (--enable-double), so passing --enable-double=no will compile with
float.

I wasn't aware of problems with analysis utilities. Does anyone have more
detailed experience of that?

Yes, I saw this flag with the configure options. I think I was looking
to have it such that a csound and csound64 would be built all in one
pass, but I guess there's no difference than doing a "make clean" and
reconfiguring.

I don't remember the details with the analysis utilities; Richard Dobson
explained them in detail in a post on the csound list in reply to
questions I had a while back, but I can't find the post. I know
convolution works fine if you analyze and use the files with the same
bit and endian-ness, so works for both csound and csound64. Sorry can't
be of more help here.
