I'm looking through the source code, and I'm wondering what mkdb.c and
the catalog builder are for.

The catalog builder was to give a map between opcodes and where they were
defined, as in module.  As most opcodes are now in the base thois is not
so necessary.  It worked by using the same loading mechanism but with
different semantics.  Not deleted as it may need to be revised at some
time.

Thanks for the info. Maybe it can be moved to frontends or utilities
rather than the root directory?
