Michael,

Thanks for the suggestion. And a special thanks to you or whoever seems to
have fixed the -B dependency on ksmps; it is no more.

This is what I find (Csound5 Windows):
Using ASIO4ALL "wide open" (buffer length at max/2048, 4 hardware buffers,
inputs eliminated),
1) on my fast machine, I can use -B1 through -B4096 and get no audio
stutter; use -B0 or no -B and default of 16K+ kicks in, which gives bad
results. So does any number higher than 4096 (which moves to the next power
of two, 8192). Various values for -b seem to make no difference

2) on my slow machine, best (yet still poor - stuttering) performance is
with -B8000 or so. -b here again makes little or no difference. So, still
looking for a good driver solution for slower computers (Pentium running at
about 300MHz). Part of the problem is that ASIO4ALL seems restricted to 44.1
and 48K SR's - so the ordinary stereo soundcard with Csound5 has no option
to go to 22050 (unless you get a native ASIO driver on one of the
multi-channel cards out there; I did manage to pick up a used M-Audio
Quattro which does less than 44100 - my Event Echo Gina does not).

Thanks again for all your help. I still hope an alternative driver (plugin?)
can be developed to help with the above situation. Things are getting better
all the time with Csound5.
