Some time ago I posted about a number of problems I was facing to build and
install csound -5.09 and cvs- from sources in my archlinux (and previously
gentoo linux and ubuntu linux). The same applies ditto to the recent 5.10
release. In the thread I proposed a couple of patches that completely solve
the issues. Please, take a look at them.
