Subject[Cs-dev] Github Migration Status
Hi All,

Thanks to Felipe and Victor for their feedback. So far, the following
has been done/tested with the migration test site[1]:

* migrated Git repo
* migrated tickets
* imported some wiki pages for testing

For myself, I'm satisfied with the current state of the test and feel
like it's ready for migration. I'll wait a couple of days to see if
anyone has any other comments before setting up the final project to
move.

Post-migration, I have the following checklist:

* Developers update remote URL's to point to Github instead of
Sourceforge (can be done by editing csound6/.git/config, or using "git
remote" to add/modify remotes)
* Add README.md to Csound root directory so that people going to the
github site will have project information

I am thinking at this point to migrate the project to be just "csound"
instead of "csound6" (so the url would be
http://github.com/csound/csound). My thought is that we should just
have one common repo for all future versions. Whenever we start work
towards a Csound7, we can create a long-term maintenance branch for
csound6, which will make it easy then to merge any bug fixes into CS7.

Additionally, another step after that would be to migrate the Csound
manual. My impression here is to also do it as "csound/manual"
instead of "csound/manual6".

Upon completion of the above, I think we should look at:

* shut down trackers on Sourceforge
* Close git repos on Sourceforge
* update project intro text on SF to point to Github (I've done
something similar on the Blue Sourceforge page[2])
* Document repo, development practice, etc. in the develop docs

Comments on the above very welcome!
steven
