I very much like Andres' installer suggestion below. This would be another
step in the direction of not confusing the average user.

I've added some stuff to the configuring section under installing in the
manual. There's no mac specific info, are there any mac specific
configuration instructions that should be there?

Also a suggestion for the windows installer, maybe check for python, and
if there install py.dll, otherwise leave the libraries uninstalled.
