Thanks for attending to this. Much appreciated.

So far I haven't succeeded in making this change work on iPhone 4 but its 
reassuring to know at least the code works on older hardware. I'm convinced my 
remaining problem is now related to the way Xcode is configured on my machine.

Later today I'll meet a colleague who knows more than me about provisioning apps 
with different hardware variants. Between us we should resolve my remaining 
issue. In case we succeed I'll give an update in the next 24 hours.

Thank you everyone, but especially Steven for all your input. Hopefully I'll be offer 
code for the Satellite Gamelan app as a demo for inclusion in a future release.
