I am not trying to insult you. I don't see any insulting words or an
insulting tone in my remarks. I have the highest respect for you, and your
contributions to computer music. You personally originally made it possible
for me to do real computer music on an IBM-compatible personal computer, and
I am very grateful for that. You have also continued to work with people,
like myself, who can be difficult at times.

I did, however, mean my words to be a bit "pointed."

I am pointing out that Csound has a diverse user base. Some users have needs
different from your own. If you make an installer that serves only your own
needs, those other users will not be served. Then, perhaps even because of
that, some day some other developer may produce an installer that does
include Jack and the interfaces. Then, there is a duplication of effort that
in my judgment would be better spent on more musical purposes.

Best regards,
Mike

But my installer DOES include Jack. As I said it is content neutral
(nearly). I have always been in this game to support other use --
like the original DOS csound was not one I actually used, as my real
computers were HLH-Orion and later SGI.
As my mac is two O/S behind it does not seem that important to build
systems that do not run on it. I just like to be able to check basic
operation.
As I have said before, my main concern in trying to get some action
on a release is to support the mainstream, existing base. Then it is
support for the embedded systems, frontends, interworking etc.

I can build the OSX release version, using John's installer system, if
it comes to that. I have 10.3 and 10.4 here.
