Hi list, I have compiled the csound5 on cvs and i notice that midi is no more working on my Ubuntu 9.10 box. I notice that the file rtalsa.c have changed, so i have compiled csound5 with rtalsa.c from version 1.32 to the last version 1.36. With rtalsa.c version 1.32, midi device -Mhw1:0 is ok, -Ma is ok With rtalsa.c version 1.33, 1.34 and 1.35, midi device -Mhw1:0 fail, i have the two messages: ALSA: opened MIDI input device 'hw:1,0' ALSA midi: No devices found With rtalsa.c version 1.33, 1.34 and 1.35, midi device -Ma is ok With rtalsa.c version 1.36 (actual version) i have the same messages as above, and cpu load goes to 100% and csound hangs. Sorry for this report based only on test on a devel list, i am not able to do better. And i know that cvs version may not be stable, it is just for information. May i change some <CsOptions> flags to use the "new" alsa midi? Cheers, René |

Hi, This is probably my fault as I fixed some things after the release.... You can replace the alsa plug in for the new one (I mean moving the librtalsa.so from your sources to the place where plugins are, probably /usr/lib/csound/plugins).
