But there is no portmidi on OLPC. This needs to be implemented in the
ALSA module for it to work there.

As Rick hinted, this new, welcome portmidi option will be especially
relevent to live multicontroller
performance with Csound on the OLPC.

Collaborative activity by two or more performers running a single .csd file
is something I'd like to implement. I'm also looking for practical ways
(again with children) to do this via local networks (students on their own
OLPC's). Any ideas heartily received.

Note that some of my material uses (via sensekey) only the OLPC keyboard, so
I'm wondering how several students (in such a case) could participate in the
same live rendering via networking. Any suggestions here?

You can see the source of the 'amidi' commandline tool in ALSA Utils for
how to get a list of devices.
