Subject[CSOUND-DEV:5359] Documentation
Has anyone recently succeeded in rebuilding the Kevin Conder docbook
documentation for Csound? In particular, has anyone done this on Windows or
with Cygwin?

If anyone has managed to do this in any way on ANY platform, please email
me the value of your SGML_CATALOG_FILES environment variable.

I am trying to fold the new documentation in csound.pdf into the "Canonical
Csound Reference Manual" (by Kevin Conder, previously named the
"Alternative Csound Reference Manual".

I have the SGML/docbook/tex toolchain installed, but it's a nightmare to
configure.

I would go the other direction if I could, and fold the Kevin Conder manual
into csound.pdf, but that would seem to involve translating the sgml
sources back into LaTeX -- and I could find no program or utility that does
this reliably.

Subject[CSOUND-DEV:5360] Re: Documentation
Hi Michael,

On Fedora Core 2, I have been able to build the Csound Reference Manual,
though my stylesheets were a little off. After asking the list about it
a bit, I contacted Kevin who sent me a few files including the
gdp-both.dsl style sheet he was using. He also let me know the issues
with licensing of the documentation, which there are some modifications
I've been meaning to do to conform with that.

For fedora core 2, I used the default toolchain as installed from
RPM's. The only issues I had were locating the gdp-both.dsl file that
the ACRM used, which was on the Gnome Project's website. As far as I
can find, I don't have SGML_CATALOG_FILES defined.

From what I remember, the only things I had to change after a fresh
checkout were the locations of gdp-both.dsl defined in the Makefile (the
parts DSL_PRINT, DSL_HTML, DSL_INDEX). I think John ffitch may have
checked in changes recently for the Makefile that have those pointing to
different locations than Kevin had, but it doesn't matter so much as
it's pretty system-dependent.

I have Kevin's style sheets and had been meaning to spend some time with
the manual so that the stylesheet and other files could just be in CVS
and have no outside dependencies besides a standard docbook chain. I'm
not sure if that's possible but I was going to take a look.

I'll try to compile on cygwin tomorrow and report if I can get anywhere
with that.
