Are you shure your development system is OK? This sounds
very wrong.

I have been building Csound5 without any problems
regularly (first on 10.2 then on 10.3), usign gcc 3.3 and
I cannot understand why you are having so much trouble.

Neither can I! I have built other software on this machine and only
Csound has given any problems. Indeed it is only recently that it
did.

For example the dirent fix is not correct as it gives explicit
definitions for DIR and declares functions, repeating (differently)
the definitions in dirent.h

Removing the CS_PRINTF2 etc macros certainly improve things; they just
break everywhere they appear. As they define non standard C I have
little sympathy with them.

I also note that you refer to gcc3.3 while I have gcc3.1 on that
machine.

It is supposed to be being upgraded to 10.4 when we have (a) worked
out how to use a DVD on it and (b) time.

I have not tried the other Mac recently, but it usually gave a totally
different set of errors.

I have just got back to the studio where the Mac is; a new cvs update
seems to allow a complete build with
scons buildCsoundVST=0 generateTags=1 useJack=0 generateZip=0 install=0
useOSC=1 buildInterfaces=0 buildTclcsound=1

I still get the comment about weak library of course.

Now I need it to run correctly! I am runninng examples/fl.csd which puts
up the graph but no control panel. If I run with -d it generates the
control panel, but the little wheel continues to t=rotate and I have no
interaction, and ^C does not kill it either -- needs a ^Z; kill -9 %%

Trapped and trappedrt seem OK, so I assume i am seeing a FLTK issue.

Yes it's possible to build both the interfaces and the Jack plugin. The
interfaces I have built here and Simon Schampijer has built Jack in
his machine.

noFLTKThreads=1 is needed for 10.4 if you want FLTK to work.

With noFLTKThreads=1 it runs more or less OK. Current oddity is an
outbreak of messages
kCGErrorFailure : CGContextResetClip: invalid context
kCGErrorFailure : CGContextIsPathEmpty: invalid context
kCGErrorFailure : CGContextAddRect: invalid context
kCGErrorFailure : CGContextClip: invalid context
which seem to come from FLTK or mac graphics. FLTK is 1.1.6 build with
threads and quartz. I tried building without quartz and it (FLTK) did not
link.
Well I guess this is acceptable -- or perhaps I shoudl go back to fltk
1.1.4?

Why? I do not have any use for them. never got jack to do anything,
and have not had a need for it anyway.

What makes you think I am attempting to build a Mac release binary?
