I have not updated with SP 1 for Vista. Is that an absolute requirement for
Csound to run on Vista?

As for 2008 Express Edition, I may do that. Would that run on Vista?

Thanks,
Mike

On a similar note,

Does this mean i will have to do a service pack 2 update on XP to run your
.exe / compiled installer whatsit of csound? (we discussed this around
alternate builds a few months back Michael...)

if so, i'm going to have to buy a cd from microsoft via the website (So
please, please say no...fingers crossed)

this is the thread to which i was referring.

I don't know if the issues overlap or not. I do remember last time though it
came up because you wanted to move away from the minGW/msys (sic?) build of
the .exe however...

!! This is Microsoft. The proper question would be whether it runs on
XP...or 2000...

Nobody runs Vista "Home Basic", do they?

Personally i am extremely nervous about any future Music PC upgrade i might
have to perform at the moment.

If Csound on Intel mac can get happening I might be persuaded to change
teams at that point... Vista scares the living bejesus out of me (not to
mention the fact that most of my current Windows audio suite won't run on it
assumedly... A BIG factor in my motivation to embrace Python & Csound for
everything humanly possible from this point forward...)

csound DOES work on intel mac.

the only thing at issue is the "MacCsound" frontend, which does run
on intel, but only under rosetta, requiring you to install the PPC
version
of csound5

Yep csound runs like a beauty on intel, better than ppc mac! I can
confirm that it runs on leopard too.

I'm also throwing my support behind Csound on intel macs.

I purchased the lowest end Intel Macbook they were selling about 6 months
ago. It smokes my 2.5 year old PPC G5 tower. Granted, a lot of that might
have to do with the 2 year difference. However, the desktop was upgraded,
while the macbook was honestly the slowest laptop the Apple store was
pushing at the time. I was not expecting the speed machine that it is.
