Subject[Csnd-dev] Looking towards 6.07
It was late September when we froze the last release, and in the
following 5 months there have been many, and significant, changes in
the code-base.

We are thus intending to release 6.07 on Monday March 15, which we
think is the soonest certain changes can be completed. I have started
preparing release notes and will circulate via this list as soon as
they are mainly complete. We intend releasing via github only, and
abandoning the Sourceforge files (I have a copy of all earlier
releases).

As ever thoughts and comments welcome.

The current Windows version is already 6.07?

Not exactly. It is out-of-sync. 6.07 has not been released.

Does that mean the current Windows version features things that aren't available in 6.06, or is it simply a clerical error? I'm just curious about whether any of the changes made since 6.06 are actually in the current release on Windows.

The Csound for Windows and Csound for Android downloads are clearly
labeled 6.07.0 beta. They do contain features since 6.06.

They can be labelled whatever we like, but the fact is that we never released the tagged 6.07 sources and binaries for
other platforms. The next release will be tagged and labelled 6.07 and we will have to make sure everything
is in sync so that users are not confused.

It would be very nice if we can use the new MSYS2 build of Csound for
the next windows release. It is 64 bit, and more in line with the
releases on OSX and Linux. It is quite easy to build now, a whole new
world actually. This will also avoid library clashes with Cabbage.
Maybe we could also look at the contents of the releases for the
different platforms so we have a uniform content for the three major
platforms.
