I'll do my best for 5.06.

Would it be because the fluid lib does not work
properly on Intel?

Well.... It worked on my intel for version 5.04... Running under  
Rosetta.  And then, running under Rosetta, version 5.5 was
broken...  am not sure it is the intel that is the cause.
