I have now built all components on OSX and I have the distribution/installation system defined. What I would really like to see now is some sort of roadmap for the release. I am not sure what steps should be taken, but perhaps John can take over now and tell us what to do. Perhaps we should have a re-structuring of the sourceforge page, where some projects might go, and we have a clear space for the csound5 packages. If we want to go for a release before the end of the year, which was the idea at Sounds Electric, we should get cracking at it. Let us have a roadmap! My (private) roadmap was a release of 5.0rc1 on Dec 25 this year. There is a place on Sourceforge for csound5 releases, with only a 5.0rc0 for Linux there at present. As soon as term and teaching finishes I was hoping to move into this with some time. The biggest problems I see at present are: 1: Exactly what should be in a release. There is clearly disagreement between me and everyone(?) else. I still have not had a clear answer to the questions I asked. I think installation without root permission matters. 2: Looping (loscil) still does not work (I just have not had time). That is high priority in the semester break 3: Trivial mechanisms to do it. ==John ffitch ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. If I sent you the relevant OSX archive(s), would you place them there? >As soon as term and teaching finishes I was hoping to move into this >with some time. On OSX, I am going to go ahead with root authorisation, as this seems to be quite common for a number of packages. This can be different on other systems. >2: Looping (loscil) still does not work (I just have not had time). >That is high priority in the semester break We can incorporate that when it's ready. >3: Trivial mechanisms to do it. I am thrilled that we finally have a goal in sight! All of you who have worked so hard to get to this point will be making a LOT of people VERY happy this holiday season :-) Unfortunately, now that I am working again, this is one of my two busiest times of the year. There is still a ton of work for me to do in updating the Mills interface. (I have not yet even compiled any of the utility modules and I have to redo most of the opcode plugins now that they have been merged). I am guessing that no one will be too saddened if there is not a simultaneous release of Csound 5 for MacOS 9 ...
