| Believe me, I have NO interest in removing anything from Csound that musicians actually need!
I still think it would be more helpful to do a side by side test of 32 and 64, relying on actual sound breakup as an indication of top usage. It is simply a more direct measure of what we are interested in.

Mike

No, this is not true, it definitely *is* an accurate indicator for me
and the way I am using csound, because cpu use is my limiting factor. I
want to add two more fm synths and another long high quality reverb. At
my gig settings I can do this with 32 bit, and not with 64. I will be
really disappointed if 32 bit is discontinued. So how can this not be a
valid comparison? It may not matter to how *you* work, but it matters a
great deal to how I work. My ensembles are designed from the ground up
to hold a steady cpu use for live use, and they both held within one
percent at 69 and 82, a 13% increase. Over 90% cpu and I run the risk of
breakup when there are spikes in cpu use. ( This I have tested a great
deal ). I already know what ksmp I want to use and what buffer rates I
need, I add more voices according to my resources.
