Subject[Cs-dev] locales
I have been fiddling with the locales. Can someone test on OSX and
Windows? New code is in Top/getstring.c and uses BSD functions

SubjectRe: [Cs-dev] locales
Compiled here without problem on OSX. I ran Trapped and TimeSphere and
both seemed to be running alright. I'm not sure how good of a test
that is though, as I'm in the US English locale anyways, which uses
the same decimal format as the C locale.

Maybe Joachim can assist here in testing?

Just remembered -- did you define HAVE_SPRINTF_L ?
I guess that should be a change in the cmake stuff which I did not look at

seems to work! i can run now StrayNumToFt.csd from within csoundqt (=

is there an additional problem with sensekey?

i can run the sensekey example from the manual in the terminal ok, but
when i run it in csoundqt, i get:
 >>
SECTION 1:
new alloc for instr 1:
PERF ERROR in instr 1: read failure in sensekey

k1	sensekey
    note aborted
  i1 0.00000
inactive allocs returned to freespace
<<

the same for any use of sensekey.

it works when i start csoundqt in the terminal -- no idea why.

I did not have that defined. I modified CMake now to check for that
and add a definition. I'm unable to test at the moment due to other
work that's partially complete, but I've committed that check and
pushed to SF.

Regarding locales and testing, any Linux user can run any installed locale in a shell by exporting, ie.
export LANG=en_AU.UTF-8

to have that lang take effect within that shell. Your package manager will have packages for installing locales.

by extension, others, if they are able to use the program in english, can maybe work around the locale issues with
export LANG=en_US
