[Cs-dev] license of fluidsynth

Date2010-06-23 18:25
FromVictor Lazzarini
Subject[Cs-dev] license of fluidsynth
...is GPL. Does this have any bearing on my distributing its binary
lib with Csound?
Apparently, doing so renders the whole software GPL. Or maybe not.

According to the SourceForge project page for Fluidsynth at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fluidsynth/, the Fluidsynth license is
exactly the same as the Csound license, LGPL. So there is no problem
at all.

Mike

yes, I thought so, but what comes with the latest sources (1.1.1) is
GPL. Maybe it has changed?

Answering myself: yes, it is. Sorry for the noise.

SubjectRe: [Cs-dev] license of fluidsynth
There is a GNU Library General Public License (LGPL) COPYING file in
the head Subversion repository for Fluidsynth, and this repository is
currently active.

The main header file (fluidsynth.h) current revision has an LGPL notice, also.

So, I believe the change went the other way, and the notices in some
sources are left over.

Mike
