| The Python DLL (python25.dll) is installed by default in your WINDOWS\System32 directory. If it is not there, look in your Python root directory, or the Python DLLs subdirectory. If you can't find it, your Python is most likely not actually installed.
The current Windows float installer is http://downloads.sourceforge.net/csound/Csound5.07.2-win32-f.exe. If you have an earlier version, the PortAudio DLL may not work; in 5.07.0 it was misnamed and also required the MSVC 8.0 runtime library. These problems are corrected in 5.07.2 (note the incremental version number).
I just now downloaded and installed the float version of Csound5.07.2 on my computer at work. I found that Python is not a problem (it was already installed on my computer) and that PortAudio works.
However, there IS a problem. Just selecting PortAudio and then enabling the Realtime I/O option on the main window of csound5gui does NOT work. There seems to be a problem with the buffer sizes not being consistent for full-duplex operation (which appears to be the default).
Fortunately, I was able to get csound5gui to play in real time with PortAudio. I un-enabled the Realtime I/O option, and then I manually typed 'dac' as the output. Probably, this disabled the sound card input and resulted in a proper buffer size.
It may be that you can find a combination of settings that will work with PortAudio and csound5gui on your computer with your sound card, perhaps by doing what I did, or by manually specifying the input buffer size, or it may be that there is a bug in csound5gui.
Hope this helps,
Mike
