I think changing the sr is even better than adding oscillators, because it increments the load on every part of the software at the same time.

My quick test was a piece I had on disk rendered to file.  The machine
is a laptop so disk speed could be quite slow.
  I will try the same on the 64bit machine when I have a moment.

If someone writes a heap of oscilator test for realtime I will happily
test that as well.
