Tanks to a passing suggestion of Nate Wetsell I have managed to get {
... } repeats to work -- except the macro expansion fails in the loop.
still the revised strategy looks sound.  I have not  fixed the macro or
checked the other score operations but I am using the new scheme on my
computer successfully.
