I tried this on the commandline with the latest from develop branch and I got an error rather than a crash:

error:  instr 1 redefined

WARNING: 1 syntax errors in orchestra.  compilation invalid

Perhaps this is an issue that has already been fixed up?

hi -

a student of mine experienced a csound crash today which was caused by
two definitions of the same instrument.  below is a possible csd.

it causes a segmentation fault, which in turn lets crash csoundqt (and
gives no useful error message if csound runs in the terminal except
"csound tidy up"). so it's really bad for beginners because they have no
idea what happens.

do you think a hot fix for the next release would be possible? or shall
i file a bug report?

thanks -
