Thanks, Istvan. I presume this fix will be available in Michael's next
Csound5beta (Windows) .exe - correct?

My main platform is CsoundAV which to my knowledge (please correct me, Gab,
if I'm wrong) still does not include event - and, I assume, event_i. So I'll
not be using event for some time, as compatibility across versions of Csound
is of major importance to me.

What is wrong with schedule for the usual mundane purposes for which it is
used (such as mine)? Does it, for example, have problems with indefinite
duration notes, or fractional instruments?

schedule does not support fractional instruments. event and event_i do.
Furthermore, schedule handles indefinite duration notes in a strange
way (tries to turn off the scheduled note when the parent note is turned
off) that has bugs that are difficult to fix. event and event_i will
create indefinite duration notes without problems, but will not attempt
to control when the new note is turned off.

The engine used in CsoundAV is very old, outdated, and was not updated
for years. It still does not have basic features such as user defined
opcodes, and has bugs and limitations that have been fixed in canonical
Csound a long time ago. Why not just use a more up to date version ?

If I can answer for Art (as well as myself): because so far, CsoundAV
has been the most reliable solution, despite its limitations, for
realtime audio, MIDI, and FLTK on Windows. But we're (at least I am)
looking forward to being able to use Cs5 for everything! And current
progress looks very positive to me.
