As reported earlier, the python module code is broken on OSX.
The following lines cause a crash:

import csnd
cs = csnd.Csound()
cs.Compile('hommage.csd')

I am wondering when this happened. Is there any chance that the
fact that we are using 2.3 on OSX instead of 2.4 might be the cause?
Of course the whole thing is built with pythonVersion=2.3
