I see what seems to be an inconsistency in the manual sources relating
to the "see also" sections.

Usually I see
       cos
but often I see
       array

I feel the second is wrong but can someone who understands doc-styles
please enlighten me?

Both generate html links (<a> tag). The difference is in the style generated: the text between <citetitle></citetitle> will be italicized in the html output, while the text between </citetitle> and </link> will have normal style.

This would allow an html link like <a href="..."><i>cos</i> function</a>, where the whole link appear as "cos function", "cos" being italicized, and "function" being normal.
