| A Chinese team has apparently developed a runtime compiler for SAOL -- more about this later.
The whole idea of SAOL is user-defined opcodes. The compiler gives you a few built-in opcodes, you make more user-defined ones using both the built-ins and other user-defined ones. It's a more elegant solution than we currently have in Csound, because SAOL is a real procedural programming language.
The idea is, the UDOs are as basically as good as native ones. So, there's no need for plugin opcodes like we have in Csound. It's a universal synthesizer. That's the idea, anyway.
