Subject | [Cs-dev] HELP: Weird troubles with compiling music. |
I reinstalled my MacBook Air completely fresh with OSX Mavericks this morning. - Installed Max/MSP - Installed Csound (- worked fine) - Installed PureData - Removed PureData Now I receive the problem below when I try to compile my very simple (5 seconds 440 hz sine wave patch). I tried to reinstall Csound in different ways a few times. I don't use anything MIDI or tried to use it. Somehow the Csound compiler is looking for something. The problem happens when compiling a CSD file in CsoundQT and it happens when compiling a ORC and SCO file with csound in the terminal. I already Google'd the **** out of it. MacBook Air OSX 10.9 Csound 6.01 (+ CsoundQT 0.8.1) PATCH: COMPILE ERROR: I really need to get some work done and it really bugs me that my Csound crashed so early in the process. I really hope someone can help me. It will be very much appreciated. Thank you very much. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/HELP-Weird-troubles-with-compiling-music-tp5730873.html Sent from the Csound - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business. Hi Steven, I turned off both "Use CsoundQT Settings" (under File and Realtime Play) Now CsoundQT crashes when it tries to allocate memory ("new alloc for instr 1") or doesn't play anything. But *CsoundQT does make a working WAV file! Csound (terminal) makes a working AIFF file!* It looks like something is bugged in my CsoundQT which even seems to affect my Csound binary. At the moment I can go on working/studying on my music as it seems with the terminal. Thank you very much for that. Hopefully someone can look into the weird behaviour and errors I get in CsoundQT. You could try one of the CsoundQT Nightly builds: http://sourceforge.net/projects/qutecsound/files/CsoundQt/nightly-osx/ Otherwise, you'd probably be better off asking questions on the Csound users list or on the CsoundQT mailing lists. steven On Thu, Dec 19, 2013 at 2:56 PM, Heartsnatcher |

The nightly build still complains about MIDI and doesn't play the audio within the program. It does render an audio file on the hard disk and it seems stable. I will be looking further into this on the users list. Thanks for the help. PS: Your music is great Steven, been listening it the last few weeks. Hi, What exactly is the MIDI issue?Andrés On Thu, Dec 19, 2013 at 12:08 PM, Heartsnatcher <josvantol@me.com> wrote: The nightly build still complains about MIDI and doesn't play the audio |

I posted two error logs from the console. It seems like CsoundQT makes the Csound binary look for MIDI controllers (which in my case aren't present) while compiling. This gives empty (zero second) audio renders and even a crashing CsoundQT. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/HELP-Weird-troubles-with-compiling-music-tp5730873p5730887.html Sent from the Csound - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business. Ah, I now see it in the forum. This means that the space to enter the MIDI device number has an invalid value. Go into the MIDI preferences and remove any number you see in the MIDI device slot. Cheers, Andrés On Thu, Dec 19, 2013 at 2:37 PM, Andres Cabrera <mantaraya36@gmail.com> wrote:
